About the Post Vintage Car Club
The Post Vintage Car Club of Tasmania was founded in 1975 by a group of car enthusiasts who wanted to have a club that catered for cars manufactured after January 1 1930.
The objects of the club are:
To promote the preservation, restoration and use of post vintage vehicles of all kinds.
To conduct meetings and club activities from which members may obtain knowledge enabling them to better achieve the aims set out above.
To provide advice and assistance (where possible) to members undertaking the preservation or restoration of post vintage vehicles.
To promote and engage in social activities.
The club is family oriented with regular activities such as picnics, family days, social evenings and outings in the cars. Each year a Club Family Fun Day is held, in conjunction with a children's Christmas party and Show & Shine.
A monthly newsletter - "Wheels Within" - is published which contains interesting articles, club chit chat, committee matters and a calendar of events.
Financial members are entitled to low cost "Club event registration" for their club cars. These vehicles pay a vastly reduced annual registration fee with the following restrictions: they may only be used for a rally, a trial (not testing the vehicle), a charitable event organized by an authorized car club and traveling to and from a place of repair. The vehicle may be used for all club events. This scheme is a major money saver for club members.
The club organizes two major annual rallies: The "Wrest Point South East Rally" which is a one day time trial, as well as the "Ron McDonald Winter Tour", which is a touring rally over three days to some part of beautiful Tasmania. For more information on the Wrest Point South East Rally, click on the link at the left of this page. A new annual event also being organised by the club is the "Picnic at Ross".
