Saturday January 31st saw the running of the 2026 TWO WAY TAXI TRUCKS SOUTH EAST RALLY. Weather was slightly cloudy to start with but cleared up to a fine and sunny day. Over 60 cars were involved in the rally which was started by Senator Carol Brown flagging off the first car at 10am. The route took competitors first up the Brooker Highway, across the Bowen bridge and then up over Grass Tree Hill to Richmond. Using the Richmond bypass cars proceeded up to Finger Post Road, before turning left on the A3, the main east coast highway. Turning left at Runnymede the route then gave competitors some excellent driving on quiet Tasmanian country roads with some stunning vistas.
Lunch was taken in Oatlands before the return trip required more country driving before the historic villages of Colebrook and Campania. Finally through the vineyards bordering Richmond, up “Back Tree Road” before ending at the local Tavern in Pontville for a well deserved coffee with scones, jam and cream. A journey approaching 200 kilometers. A fine way to celebrate the 41st running of the PVCC rally.
